Golf de Sainte – Maxime

Less than one hours drive by motorway from the Nice and Toulon international airports, designed in the heart of the province, amidst an exceptional setting of wild underbrush and oak trees lies the international Sainte-Maxime Golf Club. Enviably located facing the Gulf de Saint-Tropez and within easy reach of the villages of Gassin and Grimaud the 18 hole golf course (6155 m par 71) stretches over 65 ha of undulating countryside. Designed by British architect Donald Harradine in partnership with his son Peter, the course makes the most of a site overlooking the coast and back-country of the Var. Several greens over look the Mediterranean, standing out clearly from the blue of sky and sea. The first part of the course sets off from below the Hotel Golf Plaza. Aerial shots, slopes and water hazards succeed one of another for the first nine holes which wind down towards the club-house. The rest of the course extends over a plateau where players discover the superb panorama of the bay of Saint-Tropez and the Maures and Estérel mountains.
